Founded in 1988, Trident Microsystems, Inc. designs, develops and markets digital television System-on-chip (SOC) solutions for the rapidly growing consumer electronic markets in digital flat CRT TV, LCD TV, PDP TV, Micro Display Projection TV, AV Notebook PC, and especially High Definition TV (HDTV) ...

Trident's advanced Digital Video Processing technology has been developed after years of R&D in the field of video and 2D/3D graphics. The DPTV™-MVS is a highly integrated scan-conversion chipset solution that is designed for progressive TV/DVD player applications. The DPTV™-MVS supports CCIR-656, CCIR-606 digital input signals and directly interfaces with most common video decoders seamlessly. It is the ideal de-interlacing chip for a progressive DVD player or a format converter in an HDTV set-top-box.

Individuals using the DPTV™-MVS Video Processor will have the benefit of using a multi-featured device while gaining a price competitive advantage over existing solutions. The chip is designed with external CPU(s) and Display & Deflection Processor (DDP) for maximum design flexibility. The DPTV™-MVS incorporates features such as 14-D picture enhancement algorithm, panorama aspect ratio, PIP/POP display and programmable zooming capability, progressive scan, and adaptive motion detect capability by using an advanced .25µm process technology. Also, the DPTV™-MVS is designed for mass production and will support a 2, 4, or 8 MB SDRAM frame buffer configuration.
